“We have two different systems to monitor pumping stations and peripheral facilities,” said Ariane Cruz, Waste water Policy Officer from the Municipality of Heemskerk. “The Municipality of Heemskerk’s H2gO application currently connects 23 waste water pumping stations, ten peripheral facilities, two overflow functions, one hydraulic valve and one public toilet.”
As well as monitoring qualitative and quantitative data, a telemetry application is increasingly used in active control to optimise the use of the waste water system storage. This can be implemented by a telemetry application combined with local control in a pumping station or peripheral facility. “The ultimate goal is to create enhanced intelligent cooperation between the various objects in Heemskerk’s waste water system. As H2gO offers more insight into how the system operates, we can assess per case whether waste water should be transported to the purification faster or actually slower,” said Ariane Cruz.
“We developed the functional program together with the Municipality of Heemskerk and the supplier of the peripheral facilities in order to be able to follow the operation of the peripheral facilities real-time in H2gO. Communications with H2gO take place according to one of the many communications protocols to enable PLC visualisation in diagrams and reports,” explained Peter Haverkamp from I-Real. “Many customers know about our H2gO application, but I-Real also specialises in designing and programming PLC controls for all kinds of applications. We are hardware independent here too and can thus program for various kinds of PLCs.”
The Municipality of Heemskerk has used H2gO for several years. As well as the objects described in this case, the H2gO also organises groundwater monitoring and traffic control systems monitoring and control.“I-Real’s H2gO open telemetry system enables various pumping station and peripheral facility systems to be monitored and managed from one application,” said Cruz.
H2gO is the master station developed for managing the water chain. H2gO enables real-time monitoring, control of systems and machinery, and alerting.
